Cesar Orrico

In his work, César Orrico reflects on the syncretic nature of contemporary society through the representation of human beings. References to different periods and contexts are visible in his sculptures, which metaphorically connect time and concepts.

Under a circular idea of time, Orrico recovers archetypes from the past and brings them to the present to give them a new meaning. His work, made with different techniques and materials, is inspired by iconography, art history and cultural memory and addresses in depth topics related to identity, rituality and symbolism.

The body as an artistic object characterizes Orrico's work, where the movement and expressiveness of his sculptures are accompanied by a deep anatomical and compositional knowledge. The dynamism and tension contained in the bodies of his figures contrast with the serenity of the faces, inviting us to delve deeper into the complexity of the human condition.

The organic fusion between materials of different nature stands out in his projects and gives his work its own language. Wood, bronze and stone, among others, coexist harmoniously and are combined in his sculptures as a result of continuous experimentation with the possibilities of the material.
