  • "Inner Colors (Gen Hoshino in Aera)" fuses contemporary and traditional elements, reflecting the cultural duality characteristic of Taro Tokuyama's work. Using pages from the magazine Will, featuring renowned Japanese musician Gen Hoshino, Tokuyama constructs a meticulous collage that blends pop culture with intimate introspection.

The clear resin finish not only protects the work, but adds a unique visual depth, creating a sense of layers that invite the viewer to uncover hidden meanings. The choice of Hoshino as the central figure can be interpreted as a reflection on identity and public image in modern Japanese society. The work, by employing everyday materials such as magazine pages, also questions the ephemerality of fame and cultural consumption, while the resin encapsulates this fleeting moment, preserving it as something timeless.

This piece is a testament to Tokuyama's ability to transform everyday objects into conceptual art, engaging the viewer in a dialogue about perception, materiality and memory.
