    Author: Taro Tokuyama.

In this piece, Taro Tokuyama reinterprets a Japanese magazine cover through a process of successive layers of cutouts, oil paint, and Japanese lacquer. Kei Kobayashi's face emerges and dissolves among glazes and textures, in a play between the ephemeral nature of media culture and the permanence of matter. The artist preserves the essence of the original publication but transforms it into a meditative object: a symbolic portrait that speaks to identity, exposure, and inner transformation.
