  • About the work:

"Inner Colors (Shigeaki Kato in Aera)" stands out as a piece of visual introspection that combines elements of pop culture and contemporary art. Using the magazine cover Will Using the image of Japanese singer and actor Shigeaki Kato, Taro Tokuyama transforms this ephemeral medium into a work that questions narratives of identity and perception.

The layers of resin applied to the image create a three-dimensional texture that encapsulates and amplifies the central figure, inviting the viewer to reflect on the multiple layers of the individual behind the public image. The choice of Kato, known for his multifaceted presence in Japanese culture, reinforces the dialogue between the public and the personal, between media representation and individual essence.

This work, part of the series "Inner Colors", explores the tensions between temporality and permanence, leaving the viewer to question the construction of fame and the duality between the individual and their cultural projection.
