    Drum Ceremony or Corn Ceremony

We witness the ceremony that connects the gods with their people, primarily children and their parents. To make a pilgrimage to Wirikuta, their spiritual journey is guided by serpents, which represent the spiritual path. In this ritual, the children carry their "eye of God," symbolizing the four sacred places and the center where the ritual takes place. There, they give thanks to the gods for the food, which is corn. With the sound of the drum, the shaman communicates with the spiritual world. Each year, at the end of the rainy season, offerings are made to the gods, while the children shake rattles that represent the flight of birds, which carry the message, along with the marakame's chants, to the sacred places. During the night, the marakame sings five chants, each representing a sacred place. At that moment, they dance until dawn, until they see the light of the sun. The sacred gourd bears a cord on which each child's image is imprinted for purification. The arrows and candles are offerings used to communicate with our ancestors. Here, the drum and the grandfather fire "Tatewari" are fed first, by sacrificing a deer and a calf; their blood is collected in a gourd and all the offerings are blessed.
