  • This portrait of Antonio Gala, created by Taro Tokuyama using mixed media on wood, is a visual exploration of memory and identity. The image of the celebrated Spanish writer emerges from layers of texture and worn nuances, as if time itself had intervened in the work.

Tokuyama's technique plays with the superposition of materials and the use of muted tones, creating an effect of simultaneous fading and reconstruction. Gala's figure is perceived as diffuse, evoking the fragility of memory and the passing of time. The textures applied to the surface of the board reinforce the sensation of a memory imprinted on the material, blurred but persistent.

This work not only represents the character, but also raises a reflection on the permanence and transformation of the image in our collective perception.
