This exceptional Mata Ortiz ceramic piece, created by master craftsman Tabo Silvera, evokes the visual language of the ancient Paquimé culture, one of the most sophisticated ceramic traditions of northern Mesoamerica. Its composition, crafted with hand-painting and delicate incised reliefs, represents a symbolic journey through memory, territory, and ancestral legacy.

Particularly noteworthy is its execution in black and white, a rare color combination in Tavo Silvera's work, which accentuates the graphic and ceremonial character of the piece. The sinuous lines and geometric motifs recall ancient Pachimean visual codes, where movement, landscape, and spirituality converge in a single language.

The Path of My Ancestors is a work that engages with the past to keep alive one of the great artistic traditions of the American continent.

  • Jesús Octavio Silveira (Mata Ortiz, 1977) learned the craft of pottery from his mother and father, quickly standing out for his dedication, high quality, and the integration of the Quezada and Porvenir styles in his pieces. He has been recognized on numerous occasions in the Annual Ceramic Contest in Mata Ortiz, standing out in the “Award of Excellence” category in 2019. Through the Casa de las Artesanías, he was commissioned by the Government of the State of Chihuahua to produce a ceramic piece for Pope Francis during his visit to Mexico in 2016, a work he made in collaboration with Griselda Ortiz Martínez.
