This Mata Ortiz vessel, with its elegant, ascending form and 56 cm height, embodies the harmony between strength and movement. The curved lines and geometric patterns evoke the energy of the wind and the flow of water, essential symbols in the iconography of Paquimé. Its matte finish and the precision of the hand-painted details reflect the technical mastery of contemporary ceramists from northern Mexico, who subtly reinterpret the ancestral legacy in a modern and balanced visual language.

  • Jesús Octavio Silveira (Mata Ortiz, 1977) learned the craft of pottery from his mother and father, quickly standing out for his dedication, high quality, and the integration of the Quezada and Porvenir styles in his pieces. He has been recognized on numerous occasions in the Annual Ceramic Contest in Mata Ortiz, standing out in the “Award of Excellence” category in 2019. Through the Casa de las Artesanías, he was commissioned by the Government of the State of Chihuahua to produce a ceramic piece for Pope Francis during his visit to Mexico in 2016, a work he made in collaboration with Griselda Ortiz Martínez.
