A unique ceramic work from Mata Ortiz, one of Mexico's most renowned pottery traditions. This vase combines sculptural form and ancestral symbolism. Its design includes stylized hands, geometric lines, fish, and fretwork reminiscent of Paquimé pottery motifs, with a sober color palette of rust red, black, and creamy white.

The piece stands out for its visual balance, the complexity of its lines, and the clean technique. The body of the vase rests on an integrated conical base, and its curved silhouette highlights the meticulous hand-engraved and hand-painted work.

  • Jesús Octavio Silveira (Mata Ortiz, 1977) learned the craft of pottery from his mother and father, quickly standing out for his dedication, high quality, and the integration of the Quezada and Porvenir styles in his pieces. He has been recognized on numerous occasions in the Annual Ceramic Contest in Mata Ortiz, standing out in the “Award of Excellence” category in 2019. Through the Casa de las Artesanías, he was commissioned by the Government of the State of Chihuahua to produce a ceramic piece for Pope Francis during his visit to Mexico in 2016, a work he made in collaboration with Griselda Ortiz Martínez.
