The Paths of Paquimé II continues the dialogue with one of the most significant traditions of northern Mexico. Inspired by the memory of Paquimé and the living legacy of Mata Ortiz, this piece evokes ancient routes that connected communities, knowledge, and ways of understanding the world. Its geometric patterns recall paths traced on the earth, symbolic maps, and journeys that still persist in the cultural memory of the desert.

Each line seems to advance with the patience of time, intertwining past and present on a surface where the clay preserves silent stories. Like the paths that cross mountains and plains, this work speaks of encounter, continuity, and the profound bond between territory, tradition, and memory.

  • Jesús Octavio Silveira (Mata Ortiz, 1977) learned the craft of pottery from his mother and father, quickly standing out for his dedication, high quality, and the integration of the Quezada and Porvenir styles in his pieces. He has been recognized on numerous occasions in the Annual Ceramic Contest in Mata Ortiz, standing out in the “Award of Excellence” category in 2019. Through the Casa de las Artesanías, he was commissioned by the Government of the State of Chihuahua to produce a ceramic piece for Pope Francis during his visit to Mexico in 2016, a work he made in collaboration with Griselda Ortiz Martínez.
