Unique piece. Includes certificate of authenticity.

This unique piece represents the mastery of Mata Ortiz ceramics. It is a ceremonial plate mounted on a pedestal, with a perfectly balanced shape and a polished finish in shades of cream, black, and rust red. Its decoration combines traditional geometric elements with stylized hands, zigzag lines, fretwork, and abstract motifs that evoke the worldview of the ancient peoples of northern Mexico.

The interior is decorated with millimetric precision, while the exterior features a continuous pattern reminiscent of the Paquimé visual codices. Its slanted presentation suggests an object that is both functional and symbolic, ideal for display.

  • Jesús Octavio Silveira (Mata Ortiz, 1977) learned the craft of pottery from his mother and father, quickly standing out for his dedication, high quality, and the integration of the Quezada and Porvenir styles in his pieces. He has been recognized on numerous occasions in the Annual Ceramic Contest in Mata Ortiz, standing out in the “Award of Excellence” category in 2019. Through the Casa de las Artesanías, he was commissioned by the Government of the State of Chihuahua to produce a ceramic piece for Pope Francis during his visit to Mexico in 2016, a work he made in collaboration with Griselda Ortiz Martínez.
