  • About the work:
"Inner Colors (Kentaro Ito in Aera)" is a work that combines collage techniques and transparent resins to explore the layers of identity and perception in contemporary society. Using the cover of the magazine Will, featuring Japanese actor Kentaro Ito, Taro Tokuyama transforms an ephemeral, everyday item into a work of art with conceptual depth.

The choice of Ito as a central figure reflects a dialogue between Japanese pop culture and personal introspection, highlighting the tension between the public and the private in the construction of fame. The layers of resin add a three-dimensional effect, encapsulating and preserving this cultural fragment while inviting the viewer to contemplate the duality between the surface image and its underlying context.

This work, part of the series "Inner Colors", reaffirms Tokuyama's distinctive style, in which art transcends the visual to generate a critical commentary on the materiality, temporality and symbols of contemporary culture.
