  • About the work:

"Inner Colors (Mackenyu Arata in Aera)" is a work that encapsulates the tension between the transience of pop culture and the permanence of art. Using the cover of the magazine Will With the image of Japanese actor Mackenyu Arata, Taro Tokuyama transforms an ephemeral medium into a piece full of depth and symbolism.

The layers of resin add a three-dimensional dimension to the work, preserving the magazine as if it were a contemporary archaeological object. Arata's image, with added textures that suggest introspection and complexity, contrasts with the superficiality associated with public figures. The combination of techniques and materials makes this work a testimony to the relationship between the public and the private, the ephemeral and the eternal, central characteristics of the "Inner Colors" series.

Tokuyama invites the viewer to explore beyond the surface, reflecting on the multiple layers of identity and representation in modern art and culture.
