  • Gaea—Mara'akame. The one who knows how to dream, the one who sustains.

This work is born from the collaboration between the sculptor Cesar Orrico and the Arte Marakame studio, with the intervention in micro crystal beads of the visionary Wixárika artist Luis de la Cruz.

It fuses the power of contemporary sculpture with the ancestral wisdom of Huichol art. The serene head of Mother Earth rises, crowned by a large geometric mantle woven with thousands of tiny glass beads, a hand-crafted constellation where flowers, stars, and symbolic paths recount the Wixárika worldview: dreams as origin, vision as guide, and balance as the foundation of the world.

The term mara'akame represents one who sees beyond the veil: one who dreams to create, one who sings to heal, one who maintains order between heaven, earth, and the human heart. This work embodies that spiritual presence, transforming the artisanal intervention into a ceremonial act that brings the sculpture to life.
