From the Sierra Madre Occidental, Wixárika artist Luis de la Cruz and his family have brought to life this sculpture of the bighorn sheep, the protective spirit of the mountains. Each crystal bead, placed one by one for more than six months, reflects the colors of the sacred fire of Tatewarí and the ancestral land of Wirikuta.

The symbols that run through his body are not created at random; they are visions that the Wixaritari have contemplated on their sacred pilgrimages, inspired by hikuri (peyote). They do not invent them, but rather reproduce them, since it is peyote that is the true author of these designs, revealed in their natural forms.

Commissioned by the Marakame Art Studio, this piece is more than a work of art: it is a living testimony of the Wixárika worldview, a bridge between the human and sacred world.
