  • This work recounts the origin of life from the Wixárika worldview, a journey that begins in primordial darkness, when neither the sun nor light existed. In that ancient time dwelled the first ancestors, witnesses to the birth of the world.

On the raft sails Watacame, the first sower, accompanied by his dog and the primordial energies. Above him, the creator mother Takutsi Nakawe breathes life into it, bestowing the sacred seeds of five-colored corn, the essence of existence.

From the sea of Haramara, where it all began, the first beings emerged. The hummingbird carried fire to the mountains, igniting the spark that gave rise to humanity and ceremony. Thus was born the sacred bond between humankind, fire, and spirit.

At the center of this connection appears the blue deer, Kauyumarie, messenger between the deities and the people, guiding the marakame in his communication with the divine.

Finally, in Wirikuta, from the Cerro del Quemado, the sun is born, illuminating the world and shaping life as we know it: corn, community, and the continuity of tradition.

This piece is a reminder of the sacred origin of all that exists and of the profound link between nature, spirit and human beings.
