This piece brings together all the usual elements of Héctor Martínez's style: the tree that spreads its branches and roots equally, the train station, the police station, the local temple, the music, the party and the absence of worries.
But traditions are not absent: in the main square there is a ritual dance that stars in the scene.

  • Héctor Javier Martínez (Mata Ortiz, 1984) burst onto the Mata Ortiz pottery scene in 2008, with the characteristic style that distinguishes him to this day: the motifs of the night and day of the dead, in a model very Mexican and personal graphic. This was the result of a conversation he had with the well-known American collector Steve Rose. Héctor has been winner of the National Ceramic Award in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco in 2014, and has received important recognitions in the Annual Ceramic Competition in Mata Ortiz. He continues his work by collaborating with his partner Gabriela Pérez, with whom he shares credits in the signing of his pieces.
