Art Gallery
The Marakame Art Gallery serves as a creative platform that exhibits contemporary Wixárika Art, Alebrije Oaxaqueño proposals and promotes Mexican art; this space is a prelude to the culmination of avant-garde projects that have been present internationally. The Marakame Art Gallery is in itself an immersive experience, illuminating nuances of color that transport the viewer from its sober walls.
One side of the gallery accommodates the artistic production and supervision workshop, where we project and produce the best pieces of Marakame.
We also have an artist residency for Huichol artists, who come to work on projects for seasons at a time, as well as deliver pieces produced by themselves and their family in the Huichol community.
The space is located in the town of Santa Maria de Guido - Morelia, Michoacán (México), and was previously used by one of the pioneers of Mexican industrial design during the 50’s - Don S Shoemaker, where the iconic sling chair was assembled.
